Settlement Achieved Within Three Months In Mesothelioma Claim

85-year-old William instructed specialist mesothelioma lawyers, The Asbestos Law Partnership, following his diagnosis of mesothelioma. He was exposed to asbestos dust from the moment he left school at the age of 15 until his early 20s when he worked for Samuel Elliott & Sons Ltd, a joinery and shopfitting company based in Caversham in Reading. William fireproofed fireplaces and doors using asbestos insulation boards, known as Asbestolux boards. He also visited the machine shop where these boards were cut using circular saws. He recalled particles of dust in the air as the sun shone through the roof lights of the machine shop. During this early part of his working life William was exposed to lots of asbestos dust in clear breach of the laws that applied at that time.
William was widowed and lived alone. His wish was to remain in his own home for the remainder of his life. Although he had the support of his loving family and friends, he recognised early on that he would eventually need assistance from private carers. It was imperative that the case be resolved as quickly as possible so that William would have the funds to pay for his future care.
A court action was started as the insurers of Elliotts were not treating William’s case with the urgency he deserved. The case settled for £135,000 in less than 3 months of William instructing the firm.
