Former Foyle & Kirk Painter and Decorator Diagnosed with Asbestos Cancer Seeks Former Work Mates Help
12 Oct 2017
Our Client, a painter and decorator from Leeds who has sadly been diagnosed with mesothelioma, a cancer of the lining of the lung associated with asbestos exposure, is appealing for former work mates to help him bring his claim.
Our Client was employed between the 1960s and 1970s by Foyle & Kirk Ltd of Hyde Park Corner, Leeds as a painter and decorator. He worked on a variety of buildings including schools, hospitals and factories. He was exposed to asbestos dust when painting asbestos materials on houses such as gutters and downspouts, asbestos ceiling tiles and when painting asbestos lagged pipe work in boilers. He worked around other tradesmen removing, mixing and pasting asbestos lagging.
We are keen to hear from anyone who worked for Foyle and Kirk as a painter and decorator during these periods and can remember working on jobs where asbestos was present. We would also like to hear from other tradesmen who worked around Foyle and Kirk’s painters and decorators on jobs and recall asbestos.

Painters and decorators working in commercial and domestic settings are unfortunately at risk of developing asbestos related illnesses such as mesothelioma as this is one of the harmful substances they can be exposed to. Exposure often occurs when asbestos is disturbed as maintenance is carried on around them, when they prepare asbestos surfaces before painting and when painting asbestos containing decorative coatings such as Artex.
