Muffins for May Cake Sale for Mesothelioma UK
19 Jul 2017
On Monday 22nd May at our offices in the Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre in Halifax, we hosted a Muffin for May cake sale raising £152.33 for Mesothelioma UK.
The event was well attended, with many people for the Centre popping by to buy a muffin or a piece of cake and have a chat about Mesothelioma UK.
We were very lucky to have Simon Bolton, the Mesothelioma UK nurse from Harrogate on hand to answer any questions people had about the charity and also to provide some delicious lemon drizzle cake which went down a treat.
The local Labour MP, Holly Lynch, then a candidate in the Parliamentary Elections also came along to support the event and to buy some much needed cake for her team.
Finally we were joined by the local Mayor, Mr Ferman Ali, who came with his wife and stayed to chat about the local area and to learn more about the work of Mesothelioma UK and the asbestos issues the local area faces.
Most of all though, we had fun both making and selling the muffins and cakes for such a good cause. Fozia, who admitted after having agreed to do the cake sale that she was no baker, enjoyed her first attempt so much that she hasn’t been able to stop baking since.
